Effect of the Interaction Between Metal and Support on the Carbon
Deposition Performance of Ni/NiAl2O4 Catalyst for Dry Reforming
of Methane

Abstract: Herein, NiAl2O4 spinel was used as a support to load Ni nanoparticles for dry reforming of
methane, and the effects of different thermal treatments for preparing catalysts on carbon deposition during
the reforming were studied. The results showed that Ni/NiAl2O4 catalysts with larger surface areas could be
fabricated through either one-step thermal treatment under air atmosphere or two-step thermal treatment in
Ar first and then in air atmosphere, with nickel-nitrate-impregnated MIL-53(Al) as the aluminum source and
template. The metal-support interaction on the Ni/NiAl2O4 obtained from the two-step process was stronger
than that on the Ni/NiAl2O4 obtained from the one-step process. This made the two catalysts exhibited
different carbon deposition during the dry reforming of methane. After the dry reforming of methane for 50 h
